So I thought let's show this early Alpha walkthrough, from Zero to Seven Signs. Its almost like a First Playable Prototype.. except it's missing important things, like a start and an end, or NPCs to bullshit you a bit.. An FPP can be superbasic like this here video tho.
The game is still very young, and I'm not yet sure about the End Game. It might be just 1 tough platforming lvl.. or.. a whole new world. Maybe you keep on finding new worlds the further you can progress. Atm it's really easy to get from lvl 1 to 7. And yes, they are all kind of the same now.
The complete game will be very different, the world will change with every level, the AI will be on your ass, relentless, more alive, there will be tougher platforming late game.. and probably the end game will have The Void. Meaning if you fail platforms., you fall in The Void.
Aaaand.. yeah.. I really have to do something about the jumping camera. It gets tiresome quickly. I wish Unreal had a simple solution, so vertical camera lag is separate from other axes. It was tricky to implement in 2D, it's gonna be tricky here too. I need the camera to follow vertically, but smoothly. So if the Player changes altitude, the camera adjusts slowly, doesn't stay at a default altitude, like in your usual top down game. I want to try to change the camera to something closer to a 3rd person.. but it doesn't work well in tight corridors. Atm it's somewhere in between. It's not a 3rd person cam, it's not a purely top down one either. More iteration needed on this camera..
And THEN!!.. I start working on the new AI. : ]
