I do everything I can to avoid lighting and shading in 2D.. Which is why all my drawings are either black and white or looking as flat as it gets. : / Problem is.. once you add color, you kinda add the 'light' element into the equation, not just 'color', so lack of shading/lighting looks flat. : / Anyway, it takes too long and it's a complication I try to avoid.. O___O not to mention potentially complex lighting scenarios. I also see shading as auxiliary, unimportant stuff, I find it annoying when this ends up taking longer than the main thing, which is the idea, the drawing.. I wish there was a fast and easy way. :D Maybe watercolors, something that can be done splotchy splotchy quick and looks cute even if imprecise. The basic shading above took at least 5 times longer than the drawing itself, to me this is painfully slow.
