I'm trying to get into the habit of watching movies just for analysis sake, and separate a certain focus from everything else going on in that movie. Like watching only hands for a while (I never managed to focus like this for the entire length of a movie, it would probably be very hard if not impossible, ha ha, quite insane too...), or eyes, or just for image composition, trying to see the whole as an abstract image, or just focus on one character alone and not watch the others, or focus on where the focus is - translate to myself the director's "now look at this, and now at this, this, look at this, shift your focus over there, come back here" etc, or focus on shoes only (yeah, see them feet twist and shout... :) ), or shoulders, or you name it... I should try to do a "figure out the internal-monologue" of a given character... That would be hard, but gratifying, no doubt.
It's a really cool exercise to focus like this on individual elements - I get to see new surprising things I would have never dared to imagine... I should make a list of things to look at (like boobs), it'd probably help.
