Google Sketch Up! Yes, that is the name...
I didn't sleep in a while now, so expect some crazy garbage... I have no idea what... what??
Last night I've discovered me a treasure. I can build a SET now, easy! OK, OK, I knew about Google Sketch Up, but I haven't used it this way before - to make me a cool looking set for my... well, my movies, or something, you know, like... an environment. Fast and sexy. If you render it in Maya, especially. This is no perfect rendering, I got some flickering, by God, I have no idea how, it wasn't supposed to be there - maybe it's the low-poly? The camera movement is not the best you can get in town.... if you now what I mean... but anyway, what matters is the IDEA! Imagine that this fancy weird environment I managed to build in like.... less than an hour, it's almost 30000 poly in SketchUp, because of the instances, and about 50000 in Maya, saved as one object. Fast to interact with, easy to light... oh, ok, maybe not easy to light... but the idea was I wanted to light something and test my lack of knowledge in lighting with Spot Lights!!! Yes!!! Oh yes!! I sayz I lovez spot lightz! They givez me nice falloff and render very fast. I learned this from the great masters... ammm, well, I still have a long way to understanding how to light something with spot lights so that you go "OMG!!!" But let me get another beer and let be show you what I just rendered in no time... in Maya... with 5 spot lights, using my fabulous film-set made from pre-made parts from the library I spent an entire night downloading... hehehehe... let me tell you a little bit about the concept - this is art, dude, art, not... you know... it's pure geniusssssss... OK, it goes like this:
you take an office desk... some garden ramada... whatever that is... you add a sink, plates, glasses, bottles of wine, cocktails, an oven, an apple!!! yes, let's not forget the apple... etc etc, a piaaanooooo.... of course, you need one of those.... and you've transformed the set into an outdoor kitchen. Immediately as you exit the kitchen you have a telegraph pole/street lamp (not lit), a red light (not lit, but just in case), a circus (party tent)!!!! And a car is parked next to your open-kitchen-house, a few bikes, some theater-chairs, armchairs, folding tables, a comfy bench, all for your comfort... a tennis court, some trail exercise hurdles, plants, and all being added on top of a football field... to round it up. Oh, let's not forget the locomotive in the backyard!!! All this mess reminds me of Half Life 2... reality is almost as real as Half Life 2, keep that in mind!! So, with that in mind... let's not disturb the neigbors... let's keep the locomotive to ourselves. Is this not poetry?? Or what?? Google Sketch Up, I love you, you are poetry to me!!!
Hey did I miss something? Yes, of course I did - and that's for you to find out (5.6MB Quicktime, seems like it doesn't want to stream, have a little pacience...). Right now! Click! Or else...!!!
And this is only the beginning. Muahahahahahahaha >:D Reality? Sayonara!!!
(OK, maybe I should go sleep now...)
