Check out Shawn's great tips about creature work and realism in animation. My favorite ones are about speed that doesn't match size, not keeping weight and style consistent, and animating too clean instead of realistic. I always thought that animators should tone down their zippity zappity timing and pose-to-poseness, and rather think of the details of movement more carefully. Fast timing very often hides lack of understanding of what's really happening in there, and makes animation look animationy.. not realistic [yea this doesn't apply to Hoops and Yoyo, so understanding style and being consistent with that is just as important of course]. Anyway, I really like what Shawn is saying. As always, he writes awesome stuff. : >
